Picture from the rooftop at the Maboneng project downtown Johannesburg. It’s an exciting space, also known as Arts on Main, and evidence of a new Johannesburg. William Kentridge and photographer Michael Subotsky have opened studio’s at the precint. There are restaurants and shops, a Sunday market, a print workshop run by David Krut, a cinema (The Bioscope) and so much more. This picture from the roof of the Jo’burg skyline landed in my inbox with the usual impact: homesick.
